puffing up bulbo bulbs?

Hi. Can extra watering make the bulbs of bulbophyllums fill in a little more? I always see beautiful photos of big puffy pseudobulbs, and unfortunately, my p-bulbs are quite wrinkly. Should I soak them twice a week or something like this? Thanks.

Oh, by the way, my EA Buckleberry has about 10 spikes, my Lion King/anandali has 2, and my Medusa/Perseus has 1.

Fantastic news about the blooms!
I do not grow those two specific ones but if wrinkled pseudobulbs is not normal for them, I would increase humidity and watering.

More frequent watering can help to puff up pseudobulbs for sure. If you don't have time to do that (assuming your plant is potted in moss) what I frequently do is this: First make sure the plant is completely watered and saturated. Then just leave the plant under a dripping faucet for an hour or so. Doing this maybe once a week should help over time. I was taught this by a cattleya nursery that uses the tip to get ready for shows. Hope this helps!

Bill Thoms, Bulbo author, writes he completely soaks his Bulbos in moss in baskets at least once a day.

Thanks everyone for this information. I really think that the plant is going through stress due to the move from "Florida" to New Mexico-- The basket it was in is totally inadequate for an area that gets very little humidity. I do need to keep it a bit "hydroponic." I have been doing what you say (soaking, watering more) and the leaves are a bit more "plastic-like"

I couldn't grow Bulbos in anything less than 60% humidity. I had to keep them inside aquariums for a while. Now I have an evaporative cooler pointed at them. If I forget to water and they go dry, they die immediately.

we've been having monsoon rains here. Apparently, the rain has skipped this town for about 10 years, but it is back. We have a huge deluge every night/evening. My big EA Bucklebury, had the problematic leaves and now has stiff crunchy leaves. However, the scars from floppy time leaves are still with it. It is perky, up-standing, and new leaves are growing well due to the rain.

I did let it go for awhile. The bulbos I have owned in the past, other than the present 3 were eventually killed due to my illness (weakness, depression, not caring what happened anywhere, etc.). Things are so much better now.

I am actually thinking of growing it as a pond plant (roots down in the pond) during the warm growing time here. Either that, or get a solar powered pond pump that will squirt at it ever few minutes.
