Default Bulbophyllum vaginatum

I had doubts that this was correctly labeled because how tightly it grew

or that it would ever bloom!

I've had this several years.

It is a cute orchid, all in all. A vendor who grows quite a few Bulbophyllum told me that he has found that many are mislabeled so I can understand why you had your doubts. Is this what you had expected?

Gorgeous! I'm surprised at how compact those bulbs are growing, I would have expected something a bit more wandering. I actually have one of these coming in next week and I can't wait

I gave one away because it was going to be too big for me if it continued in the same manner. That's when I started having doubts and grew it out to see what it was. I don't know why mine is so compact.

I also let it go a bit dry recently and low and behold, a bloom! Possibly another coming. Coincidence*?

*rhetorical

I have a purpurascens growing even tighter. Another seems normal. I also have a lilacinum doing the opposite, wanting to escape its pot!

Wish someone would tell me what dictates rhizome growth.

Mounted vs. potted?
