Default Novice grower seeks advice with Bulbophyllum ambrosia and Bulbophyllum bicolor

Hello. I got into orchids after a Paphiopedilum from Trader Joe's did well for me. I like growing odd plants, so naturally when I read about Bulbos I bought a couple. Bulbophyllum ambrosia is doing well. It is in active growth in a southern exposure in the PNW. I may change this when summer comes around.
Bulbophyllum bicolor isn't doing quite as well. I had to repot in when it arrived. I tried to be as delicate with it as possible, but wow are the roots brittle. I also noticed maybe halfway down the roots went from silver/green to yellowish but were still firm. They are potted in LFS and perlite. How do you recommend caring for this Bulbophyllum while it acclimates? What media do you use? I live in a rather damp place, but I also can be forgetful with watering.
I would appreciate input from anyone who has had success with this genus.
Thanks!

Most Bulbophyllums, including your two, need to be soaking wet at least once a day. If they dry out while making new growths, the new growths will blacken and die. Their roots seem to absorb water slower than those of other orchids, so they should stay very wet for at least 15 minutes after a watering.

Some people grow them in shallow baskets with a mound of foam packing peanuts in the center, covered with sphagnum moss. Many forgetful people stand those baskets in dishes of water so they don't dry out.

The amount of water these need is so much higher than what is needed by other orchids that some people just can't bring themselves to water them enough. People who severely overwater everything do well with most Bulbos.
