Default Echinolabium - growth or spike?
Was tearing off withering sheaths from echinolabium's newest leaves...



...when I found...





...and I am wondering if it is the start of a new growth or the start of a spike?

Too soon to tell for me, but am I ever jealous. Mine didn't make it through the freeze but I love this one.

IT'S SO CUTE. I WANT ONE.

On a related note: I cannot tell. Reminds me of a cattleya eye, but even then, some catts flower from them, so perhaps it's a bit too early to tell~

I'm still figuring Bulbos out but I have grown quite a few of their p-bulbs. I find p-bulbs grow pretty rapidly so I think what you have is a spike!

Purely anecdotal, no hard facts.

Ok so the growth in question has turned brown. Does this mean it's done; no spike, no growth?

I'm pretty sure it was a spike as mine were. But the bottom of that pbulb looked too wet as mine were and it probably rotted out...as mine did! PU!
