Photos can be deceiving
This just came into bloom. It may look as if it is growing in a pot of gravel. Truth be know, the gravel is only ~ 1/4" deep covering up the real medium of 50/50 super spag and perlite. The gravel helps keep the algae from growing so bad on top of the mix.

Fantastic looking Bulbo, Jerry. I've never seen this one. It looks like there's a lot more getting ready to bloom (besides the ones in the back), am I right? All of mine have been growing at great speed for the last month after a long winter rest of doing very little. After seeing this, I can't wait....

I think it may be a (little) stinker as even I can kind of detect a vague odor. I have an advantage in that my sense of smell is almost nonexistent. I will have to ask my official odor tester, in this case spouse, to take a good whiff and tell me the results. Should I warn her first?? Don't think it could be much worse than the Stapelia's(sp) we used to grow.
Yes Sandy, the blooms are short lived, but there is a total of 13 on 3 spikes.

Gorgeous Bulbo, Jerry! Don't tell the spouse beforehand...only way to really accurately gauge from her reaction how stinky. Thanks too for the tip about using the gravel covering to cut down on algae build up!
