Hey, is it just my browser or do I see red dust on the leaves on that last pic?

Yeah, you're seeing right Tindomul. It's cinnamon. I had found a rotted bulb buried deep between all the other growth and couldn't get the cinnamon in that tight spot without getting a little sloppy. Want to give it some time before I spray or dust off.
But, if your screen starts acting up, I've got a great cleaner for you.....

Probably a stupid question, but why the shock cords on the previous pictures. Critters?

Not stupid at all. I have these on the patio which is semi-outdoors where here in Florida, it frequently get's very windy. After having one of my large Dends. topple during one windy night, I invested in bungee cords! I keep them on at all times now. It helps me sleep better at night and keeps the kids in place!

Sandy you're going to love this little one. My second spike opened while I was on vacation. It was nice to come home to another bloom.
Does anyone know how long the blooms on these are supposed to last? My first bloom seemed very short lived. I'm wondering if the cool night air is wreaking havoc with the flower. We sleep with our windows open and the chids are in the bedroom.

Thanks Terri! While I'm not 100% sure, I know that most Bulbo flowers are very short lived, about 3-4 days, not toooooo terrible when you think of how fast it takes from first sight of a spike to flowering. My winter Phals take 2&1/2 months.
This is about a week now since I first noticed the spike. Any minute now! It's the first bloom I'll have on this plant. Yippee!

Thanks Sandy! The flower lasted about a week. Good to know that's normal.
