Greg i know lots of Bulbos grow well in different media
but i find mine do best mounted with roots exposed so they get good soaking and then allowed to dry ,when i say dry not strickly true with all the moisture in the air,
as you have high humidity try mounted,i think they like the humid air wafting through their extremities
i have a macranthum mounted on a wire box filled with spag so spag is always damp but the root will not go in,
try a couple,in nature they cling by their roots ,on branches under branches,but not in media,never seen one in the wild but i assume
