I feel certain it is just the dissolved sheath of the growth. My echinolabium does the same thing. If it's outside in the summer when its wet and humid, the leaf sheaths turn to jelly, leaving only the fibers.

Zero cause for concern. Bulbos love water provided they're not submerged in it.

Also just considering water plus bacterial activity ------ could lead to jelly slime. Not sure. Could get that stuff tested to see what it is.

Shadeflower may have hit the nail on the head! No one in history has ever been able to figure it out! Many theories with no proof! Look up Star Jelly! 🤪

Higher resolution and larger image pics could possibly help.

At the moment, the approximately 500 x 400 pixel pics are relatively small, and can't see much detail.

Possibly frog spawn - just due to the quantity. But - as to how it got there ------ is there any water or debris from above the orchid that can get onto the orchid? Eg. if frog spawn somehow gets on the roof, then rain could wash things off the roof and then just so-happen to land on that orchid - by chance.

But ------ a tarp was mentioned - so we could assume that nothing was able to drop onto the orchid.

The quantities of the gel is significant.

I know of jelly produced by bacteria in air-con drainage pipes. But it doesn't seem that your orchid stays wet enough for bacteria to build up enough jelly substance with that particularly significant amount.

How do I get larger pics and get the. Directly in with the message?

SouthPark 07-01-2021 09:44 AM

I think the largest size for orchidboard ---- is approximately 1024 x 768 pixels. If you have an image editor that can make your image being 1024 pixels wide, or even 1200 or 1600 pixels wide, then orchidboard can still let you upload. It will still process the file and it will end up around 1024 pixels wide. It just depends on dimensions of the original image.

Thanks South Park.
