Bulbophyllum David Copeland Rescue - Poor root system
Question Bulbophyllum David Copeland Rescue - Poor root system

Hi everyone!

I'm attaching pictures of my Bulbophyllum David Copeland for your inspection. I purchased this last January, and being new to Bulbophyllum's did not take notice of the root system. Over the course of the year as there was no signs of growth I decided to repot into a different medium to find it's root system pretty much how you see it now.

The repotting and removal of dead roots changed nothing and one of the bulbs started to go soft

In the last month I've attempted the 'spag n bag' method to no avail so but am hoping their may still yet be hope, as I would love to nuture it back to good health and see it bloom!

Any advice would be gladly welcome!

Bulbos need a huge amount of water. The commonest cause of bulbo trouble is underwatering. This one has hot growing ancestors, so it will do better with warmer temperatures.

Go to bulbophyllums.com and get Bill Thom's Bulbo book. It will save you many dollars more in plants.

Thank you. I'll get that book right away as I have another healthy mature bulbo and I'd like to keep it that way
