Orchid offshoot / Keiki advice needed
Default Orchid offshoot / Keiki advice needed

I'm definitely new to orchids but this one seems to be doing very well. It flowered in February but grew an offshoot that I'm told is called a Keiki over the summer. Now that offshoot has grown one of its own. I'm not naturally good with plants at all and I'm afraid to cut if off, and I'm not even certain if I should. Any advice here? And do the offshoots signify that main orchid is about to die?

Thanks for any advice!

This is natural reproduction; your plant is making a new plant. When you repot, move the whole thing to the side so the new roots can easily go into the medium. You will have a bushier plant and a nice display. And no, it is not dying.

Looks like a regular growth on the rhizome - a keiki is usually produced from somewhere random on the plant (like instead of a flower, you get a new few roots and leaves at the top of the flower spike)...

Looks like its outgrowing its pot, and the new shoots / bulbs are still growing - they eventually should be close to or bigger than the other big bulbs leaves on your plant.

I'd think about repotting to something that can accommodate those new shoots (as well as the old)
