Default Bratonia spike turning yellow

Hi guys,

My Bratonia has been in bloom for a long time and the spike has now turned yellow and the flowers are fading.

I wanted to see if this is how this type of orchid is supposed to act or whether its a result of something I have done wrong? The leaves and pseudobulbs are still a lovely green.

Also, when I bought it there was another spike but it was damaged and cut of at the top before it had bloomed. Can I expect any blooms from this spike as its been a couple of months with no growth from it.

Pics attached.

Thanks.

Kev.

Looks like normal senescence to me. The other spike is not likely to branch, but as long as it's green, leave it alone.

A. Totally normal progression.

B. I have once or twice had Oncidium alliance spikes bloom from lower side nodes after injury or cut-off. It can happen, but don't count on it. I would cut the old flower spikes off to focus more energy on new growths and future spikes.
