Broken aerial root. What do I do?
Default Broken aerial root. What do I do?

Hello,

I have an aerial root about 10-12 inches long and I just broke it by accident. It is still attached and I do not know if I should leave it alone or take it off completely. Thank you!

If it is still attached, chances are the root is still functioning.

I usually wait and see. Sometimes, it will die and sometimes enough is attached that it will be fine. Some orchids will send out new side roots from the main part above where it is broken.
