What do I do with phal new roots? Female
Default phal new roots help

Hello... as you can see in the attached photo my phal has roots emerging from several places. Right now my phal is in a bark medium and some moss on top. Will the new roots try to dig in the media? Do I have to repot after the new roots gets longer so they can be inside the pot? There are too many new roots emerging so they can’t all be aerial.... can they?

Thank you and looking forward to hearing advices!

Some will probably go in the pot and some may stay in the air. They will decide as they grow. 😉 You don't need to do anything. As long as the media is in good condition no need to repot. Air roots will be adapted to the dryer conditions outside the pot and don't need any extra care as long as the air isn't very dry and the plant is kept hydrated, just water them when you water the plant.

You may want to consider a larger-diameter pot.

I like spraying my air roots due to the arid environment I live in. It is a personal choice. Remember the water cycle-- there is evaporation going around all over. If you use a tray under your orchids with water in it, they are all getting evaporated water. (These trays are reccomended for indoors orchids).
