Default Phalaenopsis 'Mould"

My phalaenopsis has developed small white accretions on the leaves. This can be along the length of the leaves and also where the leaves leave the stem. Tight webs of random shape. What are they and more importantly the treatment and avoidance strategies please?

Pictures would be helpful. We need to see if it's bugs or disease...

It sounds like mealybugs, but photos will help us be sure.

Could be scale, too. Use the Search function above to search for scale Phalaenopsis.

Those are mealybugs. You can use the search box to research treatment. I would use Bayer 3 in 1 systemic insecticide with impracloprid. Our experts will have other options for you too. I hope you have this isolated from your other plants.

You have both scale and mealy bugs.

With such a heavy infestation I'd be treating and checking all my plants especially the ones right around this one. Where there is one, there's hundreds.

Don't panic!
Imidacloprid or thiacloprid take care of both at the same time.
