You are correct. Take an alcohol dipped swab and clean off the scales you can see. Check regularly.

My eye was drawn so quickly to the mealies, I missed the scale! Good catch!

Fortunately, the treatment for mealies also works for scale. I agree, check all plants. Also treat all plants.
