Default 3 quick questions

Pic 1 - Bangkok Sunset with red leaves - too much light I’m thinking. How far from my T5s should it be?
Pic 2 - Ascocentrum with red leaves. Same question as above.
Pic 3 - The same Ascocentrum again... are those nubs flower spikes?

1. Yikes! Yes, way too much light! How many tubes in the fixture? I found that with good reflectors on a 2 tube fixture 24" worked well with Phalaenopsis.
2. Almost too much, which is perfect!
3.Yes!

1. Yikes? That doesn't sound good..... It's a 4 foot / 4 tube fixture with good reflectors - how far from the lights should I move it?????
2. So leave the Asc. where it is????
3. I think that bottom nub stalled... but the top one seems to be growing. Yay!

Thank you so much for responding.... before I cause my plants to burst into flames....

How far is the fixture from the plants now? There are too many variables for anyone to definitively say "this distance", but beside "more distance than it is now", we can probably make some decent adjustment recommendation based upon your actual current distance.

Fair enough. It was originally hanging from the lights, so about 8” away from the bulbs. Now on a shelf below the lights, so about 12” away from the bulbs. I have a shelf below... that would put it closer to 24” away...

What do you think is best?

The apical portion of the lower spike looks dried up to me but the upper one looks fine. I think it should continue to grow and develop buds especially if moved a bit further away from the lights.

Here are closer shots of the lower and upper growths (beat I could do with an iPhone). Lower one a goner? Just how far from the lights should it be?

For a 4-bulb, 4' fixture, go with 24" and keep an eye on the plants. I suspect the red will fade, and then you want the leaves to be a medium- to light green. If they get too dark green in a few months, you may need to reduce the distance a bit.

Ok, I've moved it and will keep an eye on it for a few weeks. Thank you for the advice.
