I'm not sure I would describe yours as peloric. To me they look like normal petals that just didn't open properly, but maybe it's just the angle that I'm viewing them.

You should look up and read about peloric flowers in general and not just for orchids. It's educational. It can happen on any kind of flower and usually is not stable, and is uncommon. Temperatures and other factors of environment can cause them to be more common - such as in streptocarpus, very warm growing conditions stress the normally cool growing mountain plants to throw peloric flowers. That said, among some plants there are peloric species as mentioned.
In the case of our orchids there is a lot of cross breeding with peloric species to bring the peloric traits into orchids that would not normally have those traits. They can also be quite unstable but then throw peloric flowers far more often. With enough crossing with the species and careful selection it is possible to stabilize the trait in a hybrid and be able propagate it. Sometimes that can only be done with divisions but if stable enough, can be propagated by other means as well.
I for one agree that I personally do not care for peloric (or any other flower) that does not open and display well. So I too will take a pass on peloric orchids that do not open fully. There are plenty of nice flat, open pelorics to choose from and I'd rather be picky. But collect what /you/ like and enjoy.

That is what I initially thought too. But the involved petals are differently shaped and over twice the size of those on the normal flowers on the same plant. The flower that’s partially in frame on the lower left is normally proportioned.

There are anther two at the hardware store with similar mutations to mine. The striped one would be really neat if it fully opened (peloric front, normal on same plant in the rear). On the red one, I pulled back the petal and you can see how the lip shape and pattern are repeated. The third shot is of a normal flower. There’s one like Dolly’s at Lowe’s; this seems to be a stable mutation; I was tempted on that one:-)

At the hardware store the stripey one had a normal flower too, the red one was all peloric, but had a lot of buds. They may be unlabeled Phal. Fuller's Gold Stripes 'Lycastaenopsis' and Phal. Tying Shin Golden Rose 'Lycastaenopsis' ; there are some look alikes on orchids.com.
I'm going to watch the purple striped one with the peloric lip at Lowes. It's pretty beat up, I'll get it if it goes clearance :-)
