I'm with you Leafmite. If it works, don't fix it right?

Water in the crown won't cause problems...in optimal conditions. But as written earlier, if you have even one criteria missing, crown rot is possible.

Nice idea, to use a squirter bottle! I should look for something like that.

Super cheap at Walmart $0.99. I keep them filled and on the warming mat so when they need water it's right there at the ready oh, and warm.

Poor air movement, COLD water in the crown, and those two combined with a sudden temperature drop. Remember, nobody goes around through jungles making sure the wild orchids don't have water in their crowns.

Yes. I know that you're right, so I guess it'll just have to be chalked up to one of my idiosyncrasies

The nearest Walmart is just a bit far, there's a big pond in the way.... I don't think I've seen bottles like this here, so I'll keep an eye open for something similar somewhere.

You can try online. I think they're called something like ketchup mustard bottles or something like that. Try Amazon.

If you use the OB search engine, you will see there has been a lot written about this. You might find those posts helpful as well.

I wasn't actually writing in because I wanted help with this, I just wanted to share my method of watering my miniature phalaenopsis. And whether I guess it is really useful or even possibly ridiculous, I like the exactness of using these pointed tip plastic bottles.

I like your ketchup bottle idea and may give it a try myself. Most of my plants are miniature and I use 8 oz spray bottles, lots and lots of refills. A larger spray bottle is too big and clumsy to maneuver around these tiny potted plants and mounts. I think your idea might save time as it takes a lotta squirts to really soak these guys.

One of the things I enjoy about my greenhouse/shelves is the simple fact that I am able to spray like crazy and not worry about the mess in the house. I’ve got to try your method! Thank you for sharing.
