We hoosiers call those stink bugs. Don't squash them. Catch them in Kleenex and flush them.

Wow! That's pretty intense. I don't know why but I just have this thing about killing anything these days. But I will take your advice and get them out of my house.

at the risk of sounding ignorant, what is a Hoosier?

Ahh. Interesting. Natives with your own separate name. Although I've been in Vermont for 42 years I was born in Ohio, and I've seen stink bugs (as I've heard them called) many times, both in Ohio and Vermont . But these two are a little narrower then the wide ones. But you all are right. And in protection of my plants, they will vacate my property ASAP!

A Hoosier is a classy and kind lady with far too much affection for cats.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think he's a handsome bug. I think you're right on the western conifer seed bug. Hopefully, he can just be escorted outside to find other accommodations for the winter.

There are at least two types of Stink bugs. We always had the native kind. Now we have few of those and millions of Brown Marmated Stink bugs. They are more shield shaped, an asian import and a quick search will show to be a horrible pest. Whatever it is, just dispatch it!

We had a ton of the brown marmorated stink bugs in PA, but have not seen any here in NC (yet). One of the worst mistakes one can make is vacuuming one up (ask me how I know...). Yuck.

The OP's bug is NOT a stink bug, but I'd definitely dispatch those suckers.

Agreed on one thing! ;)

I'm with you on this one, Green. No need to kill everything, just send them out of your house. Our county extension agent refers to people like me as "bug-huggers". I'm not sure it's a compliment, but I'll go with it.
