Unhappy Phal NoID stalk broke!!

So I was looking at my Phal NoID's bloom from afar, and I said to myself "Where's the stalk?" so I got my sandals and checked. There I saw that THE STALK BROKE!!! No, it didn't break off, but it was hanging on to the base of the stalk... So I taped it with duck tape and realigned it... Will it survive and keep blooming/How long will the flower live?

It's raining heavily so I can't get pics and I'M SOAKING WET.

Well at least my dendro has buds, my drosera affinis has a stalk, and exam's over in a few days, which means I get to buy plants !

That really hurts to find a broken spike!

Not sure if taping it back in place will help, it depends on the amount of damage. I've successfully taped spikes that got badly bent (by stupid clumsy me) but not broken to the point where the center of the stem was visible. If the vascular system is still intact taping should be the equivalent of unkinking a garden hose.

Otherwise, if it's a young spike the plant may procude a new one. If it's a very well developed spike and the break is not at the base of the spike you may get a smaller secondary spike.

Fingers crossed and hope for the best!

I have a Cattleya hybrid that had a spike, and I went outside to water a couple weeks ago, and noticed it was hanging at an odd angle, and upon closer inspection I could see that an insect, probably a grasshopper, had chewed almost all the way through, and the spike was just dangling by a thread. The buds died a few days later. It was tragic, especially since the plant is new, and I got it back in about June, and it was in bud, but when it arrived, the spike had broken. So now I've missed this one twice, but I was impressed that it tried to bloom twice in a three month period. There's another new growth just starting, so maybe I won't have to wait much longer, and maybe the third time will indeed be the charm.
