A couple of years late here with my post. I totally agree.

I believe that a lot of people in the past have had the idea of watering plants with ice cubes, but their experimental results would usually indicate the method is generally a failure. Making an orchid perish in this way is cruel/nasty.

Now, when we have a business person selling orchids commercially and pushing this kind of wishful 'method' (that also generally happens to be a failure) - then the plant societies and authorities should work together to stop this seller from getting away with plant mass murder/torture.
