Vanda culture

Greetings
I am curious about the culture of Vanda orchids indoors whilst they are potted. This technique seems very risky to me. Please will anybody who has grown their Vandas indoors, potted, please advise on their experiences with this technique and any problems or pros to this method they encountered.

What type of Vanda? Potted in what? Indoors where? Are you someplace where the AC runs 24x7? Are the windows open? What is the indoor temperature?

Clear plastic pots with live spanish moss works well for me.

It also makes watering very easy as you only water when the roots are all white. Then water until they are completely green.

I have a Vanda (formerly Ascocenda) Princess Mikasa 'Blue" which has survived more than 10 years potted in chunky bark, moving inside and out with the seasons. It is a reliable bloomer and seems pretty forgiving about conditions. That's it in my avatar.

I also use a clear plastic pot.

Fishmom, would you mind posting a picture of your pot and the media inside it? How often do you water your potted plants?

I use "vase culture" for my vandas, glass containers and no media. I've used this method for about a decade. No issue with rot, plants are watered once or twice per week, and roots sprayed more often in summer. If I go on vacation, I just leave them sitting in say an inch of water, which seems to do them no harm either.

Vandas are the only genus I dislike... most of the ones sold here get big and vine. A firend I know hrows a vanda in a regular pot with coarse bark chips and hanged from a tree branch. Your species might have different needs though. Most vandas need bright, but no direct, harsh, sunlight I believe.

I recently moved my vanda (a seedling from C&H) into full water culture, and moved it to right next to my east facing bay window. The bottom 20% of roots are always in water, twice a week I give it a full root soak for 1/2 hr with fertilizer at 25ppm N, I mist the roots every morning and evening. I've seen more root growth in the last 2 months than the previous 2 years combined, it is also producing the sticky sap like crazy (never had before). Kelpmax and Inocucor a couple times a month also.

Edit, no trees in my backyard so the plant gets smothered in full sun from sunrise until about noon, then very bright indirect light that fades throughout the day
