I have a NoID phal that I purchased from the clearance rack. I finally got it to bloom, and pleasantly surprised at the smaller, floriferous blooms. I prefer it over the common phals sold everywhere.
I understand that it is impossible to accurately ID this phal. Though, I was hoping that someone could point me to a similar hybrid/species as the one in the photograph - or certain parents that tend to yield hybrids with smaller blooms.
I agree, Phal Timothy Christopher is a good representative of this type, and a good model for the breeding. Look for hybrids that combine Phal equestris (1/4 - 1/2, maybe more in advanced generations) with classic large Phal hybrids or the species behind them (amabilis, aphrodite, stuartiana, schilleriana, sanderiana, rimestadiana, etc.). Other species may figure in too, of course, but that's the basic formula for "mini-Phals".
