There was one of these at my local society and I learned you must be careful because the old bulbs will have sharp thorn like spikes that will cut you. It really surprised me, but the plant still was cool.

Default Orchids with a strong scent

, Well the trip to Puerto Rico was nice. Unfortunately I got sick, finishing up with my cold and now my wife has it, such is life.
I would include the Dendrobium Anosmum 'Hono Hono' from Hawaii, I found it to be very fragrant. Filled my entire living room with very strong sweet fragrance. I will be looking for one to try it S/H (I found one at Home depot 2 yrs ago) to see if I have more luck this time around.
I have a few Orchids in bloom (bloomed this week), that are supposed to have fragrance (See attached), (I have noticed that it can take a few days for the fragrance to get strong enough to smell it). I have a few more getting ready to either Bud or Bloom. I will be asking another question in a New Thread in a few moments ...Zoren...

Don''t forget Encyclia radicans (or whatever name it is given now). I have one plant that has been in bloom with 4 flowers (2 per each pseudobulb) for at least 2 weeks and it is still scenting. I am at my computer and I can smell the flowers even though I am about 15 feet away from the plant. It is an amazing plant.

In the past, I have had Lycaste aromatica bloom and could never detect the cinnamon scent from the flowers. I do not know what I was doing wrong; but, the 2 plants I had would bloom and there would not be any fragrance.

And last but not least: Brassovola nodosa gives a fantastic scent after sundown. I bought one in bloom from Jim Rice some years ago. After sunset, that one bloom scented my entire living room. Sadly, I could not keep the pant alive.

I have mine sitting in front of me (just ID'd it from the forums tyvm!). The first whiff is sweet but as it lingers it DOES smell bacon-like! That's hilarious.

I have a couple unidentified cattlyas that perfume the whole area with a strong fruit loop scent!

However, there are some to avoid!!! Sure, everyone knows about the multitudes of stinky bulbos, but I must warn you about a cute little plant called Miltonidium Pupukea Sunset. Emphasis on pupu! Not that it smells like that, but it does have an overpoweringly strong soap scent mixed with hot garbage. I gave mine away...gladly!

I know when my Gongora blossoms open before I see them the sent is so strong but it has more of an earthy smell than a nice fragrence. Zygos are my favorite.

Oncidium Twinkles are really cute and smell a little but not entirely unlike vanilla And Ray is right about the Oncidium Sharry Baby. Anyone who likes a scent in orchids must have this chocolate scented lovely.
