I believe that Australian Hybrid Dendrobiums that Den Falcorostrum in their parentage are heavily scented.

Falcorostrum parentage can be seen in the labellum which is pointy. Those with pointy labellums have the more pronounced scent I believe.

Phalaenopsis Mok Choi Yew, it's phal gigantea x phal "Sumtara Org" Violacea. It does gives out a beautiful strong sweet fragrance. It's like ummm fruit loop cereal. It's probably one of my favorite big phal leaf.

Strongly scented species from the Philippines are Dendrobium anosmum or Dendrobium superbum.

Write up below from Manila Bulletin, Feb 11, 2015 issue and I quote:

"Dendrobium anosmum or Dendrobium superbum- Its blooming stimulus is cool and dry air night condition and warm day temperature. This is usually experienced during December to February. Its common name Sanggumay, means “nakakaumay” or “masangsang” in Tagalog. In English, it would mean “repulsive” or “overpowering.” These adjectives best describe the plant’s fragrance. However, it is a little bit funny and ironic that Dr. John Lindley in 1845 named this very fragrant species the Dendrobium anosmum. The name “anosmum” happens to mean “odorless” or without scent. He may have had a terrible cold during that time or the specimen plant he had didn’t exhibit that fragrant characteristics."

Just sharing.

Welcome to the Orchid Board! Best would be to start at the main menu, click on Forums, click on Beginner Discussion, and click the red button at the top left, New Thread. Then post the questions you have. People will read what you write and answer.

You can read a lot of threads here, already written about your types of plants, by reading the forums here dedicated to those species. Click on Forums and look at all of them!

Are orchid scents essential for their natural polination? Or do they serve another function (Or maybe I should not ask that here...)...

You are right. They use scent to attract pollinators

Got a Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Bluebird' from my local plant shop. One spike is well in bloom and another is coming along. Great fragrance all day.

Default Green hornet

I've heard the green hornet can smell like horse poop, but mine seems to smell like honey *phew!* does anyone else have one like that?
