If it didn't go below freezing, it may recover.

It cannot tolerate freezing. It will be severely set back by temperatures below 50 F / 10C. Most people don't buy plants to be shipped during cold weather. Are the leaves soft, or very firm?

Realize there are laws governing import of plants from outside the US. You need to follow these laws.

At the risk of sounding snarky...Always assume the worst could happen...And plan accordingly. I notice a reputable grower, Hausermans ( who had that plant), suspended shipping due to cold weather. Might be a hard lesson.

Hausermann's has been shipping orchids for a LONG time so they know. I ordered orchids a couple of weeks before Christmas one very cold year, long ago, and got them around March...when it finally warmed up enough to ship. Al of Al's Orchid Greenhouse insulates his boxes with insulation and packs them well but he still won't ship anything unless it is safe to do so. I have not had any problem with Logees, either, as they have just held the plants until it was safe.

Wait and see what happens with the plant.

I agree with prior comments though, this is a bad time of year to be buying tropical plants and shipping them through the mail. Especially if the plant is delivered to a mailbox instead of (for example) a warm office.

Live and learn; if it dies, it would not be reasonable to expect a refund of any kind from the seller, since you agreed to buy it in winter and ship it to the northeast USA. If by some miracle it lives, consider yourself lucky.

Never order plants to be shipped to you at the end of the year after the USDA first frost date in your location and the shipper's location (or in the beginning of the year before the USDA last frost date in your / shipper's location). Not unless you are willing to pay a lot extra for express shipping and special packaging. Even close to those dates you should be very mindful of weather forecasts within 10 days of the shipment date. If you are close to a holiday where there is usually a lot of package delivery, you should expect significant shipping delays.

Explore What's New | USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map and Lookup your first and last freeze/frost dates by zip code.

This plant's leaves are normally harder and stiffer than those of Cattleyas. It doesn't sound good. In a few days you will know for sure.

Motes Orchids and RF Orchids, both in Homestead, Florida, usually have Rhynchostylis for sale. But you really must watch the weather.
