Den. Kingianum when to rest it's been flowering since January
My dendrobium Kindianum has been spiking and growing keikis non-stop since January. I've had it for one year exactly, bout it at natts during the chicago orchid fest that happened again this weekend! I bought it in bloom but it was not doing anything else so I rested it Halloween until late Jan when it grew 4 spikes. It's growing new keikis and spikes every week I can see two new ones bulging on the nodes right now so it won't be ready to rest come halloween will it? Should I skip the rest until it slows down?
also on a side note it's growing roots out of one of the currently flower spikes is that not weird or what?!

I don't know what you should do, but I would like to teach that trick to my orchids.

I didn't think that the Aussie Den's needed a winter rest.

Most things I've read recommend much cooler winter temperatures for kingianum, and many recommend drier, as well. But I would not stop watering a plant making new growth.

I agree. Wow. What are you feeding it?

Really, if you need to get your D. kingianum to stop blooming, all you need to do is send it to me. I guarantee it will stop blooming within a week

Lol, and if you wish to part with spare keiki's let me know, please
I've grown kingianum as a healthy plant...with absolutely no flowers on it...so I'd like to start again with a proven bloomer (and make sure it's me...err wait...)

One of our OS members lives in Prescott, which has cold winters with snow. She grows her kingianums in a cold frame attached to her greenhouse. She tries not to let it freeze but sometimes it gets very close. Hers bloom magnificently every year.
I got a piece of D. kingianum 'Roy' AD/AOC/QOS, HCC/AOS from her at our November 2014 auction. It had flowered before, perhaps before being divided. The first winter I kept it in my sunroom, where it got nights in the 50s F / 10-15C with occasional dips to the 40s F / 7C. It didn't bloom. The next growing season I didn't water it enough, and the new growth wilted but matured. Last winter it was even warmer, since I was keeping Vandas in there, and it didn't bloom this spring. I watered enough this growing season; it made one new growth and is beginning another. I will put it outside here against the house for the winter, and bring it in only on nights when frost is expected.
'Roy' is one of the clones that's supposed to produce keikiis like crazy, but mine hasn't. Maybe that's because mine hasn't flowered for me.

If the plant is in active growth give it conditions to support active growth. If/when it slows down you can ease off on water and fertilizer for a while, cooler temps if you can manage, but It seems like you have a clone that tends to stay active. The more generations of breeding away from the wild the less seasonality you may see with any species. And indoor conditions or any place away from native habitat may not give the strong cues that trigger natural seasonal rest.

Kingianums do not always follow the rules. Apply the rules, regardless of whether the plant is in active growth.
1. No fertilizer after Sept 15.
2. By Oct 15, cut back on watering to 1/3 (or less) of normal.
3. Do not resume normal watering till buds are well developed. This can mean 3-4 months at reduced watering.
If bulbs start to shrivel during low watering period, water slightly more.
While kingianums have no problems with low fall temps, they DO have a problem with fall rains (it inhibits flowering). Thus, if you leave them outside till Nov or Dec, make sure to shield them against excessive rains.
