I have several plants, 2 full size phals, 1 mini phal, and a catt that I want to move to hanging baskets. They are currently in plastic pots. Would it be best to keep them in their pots and just place the pots in the basket. Or should I plant them directly in the baskets? Any other tips? Thank you!

It depends on the weather, the environment and the media.

On phals: In general, If they are in bloom, i suggest to leave it in its pots for the time. Otherwise, just plant them without the pots. It is a great time to inspect the plant health and its roots. I like to use the wired baskets with coconut husks lining so the roots can breath (at the end, phals are epiphytes). Also hanging basket requires much more water.

Yes I would say if you want them to dry faster pot them in baskets but if you need them to retain water more then keep them in pots then put them into the baskets. For me they would defiantly dry much to fast.

I LOVE mounts, especially when I can mount them directly onto a branch.
The only problem is getting the right amount of moss to keep them wet enough in high summer, without putting on so much that they rot in the winter
