Mounting a phal bellina
Default Mounting a phal bellina

Good afternoon.

I am going to mount a phal bellina to a piece of wood with probably fishing line. My question is should I add a small amount of moss? I am in south Florida, hot and humid. It will only receive the morning sun and shade for the rest of the day.

Thank you
Jen

I read about the fella growing a ghost orchid to bloom with spanish moss to provide humidity around the roots. I tried this with my encyclia tampensis mount and it seems to be taking quite well. I had trouble using spanish moss correctly, because it would appear bone dry, but it was still moist against the bark. Spanish moss is perfect for my central florida climate, and provides just the right touch
