what orchid next....oncidium perhaps
Hello all. So im very new to the addictive hobby of orchids....now at 6 phals lol!!!!
All seem to be doing great in north facing windows with my 2 'rescues'in the south facing bathroom window.
As im in the uk theres generally not too much sun here but im wondering what my best option would be for adding a different orchid into my collection that would require more or less the same amount of care. I have a few houseplants all doing well considering the weather, my dracanea marginata is really spurting now along with my peace lilys.
Thanks

I have Masdevallias and Dendrobium laevifolium in phal light. They take more moisture and care but can use the same light. Or as Optimist suggested try Paphiopedilums.

Yes, paph would be a very good option. If you choose an oncidium, a Sharry baby could be nice. They are very vigorous and hardy in my opinion. The fragrance smells to me just like the most sweetest chocolate ❤️

I like the yellow oncidiium a LOT. Partly it's because the one I had was in very dire straits, and yet it kept blooming, and when I repotted it, it put out new roots and another flower spike as if to say 'thank you'.
That was last autumn, and the flowers lasted a long time. I repotted it this January into a shallower pot, and put it onto Ray's low K fertiliser at ultra weak strength. It immediately started to thrust out lots of new roots, and grew a fat pbulb, and today I spotted it is throwing a new flower spike.
It's also a lot tougher than other oncidiums, I have found.
Just remember it needs finer bark than the phals.

Thank you for the advice! Whoa sounds like a great orchid, obviously responding really well to your care.
