Default New Christmas Surprise!

Thought I'd take a moment to show you my Christmas orchids (arrived today!)

Paphiopedilum Ho Chi Minh
Paphiopedilum Sukhakulli (in bud)

The temps aren't too bad today, around 40°F-44°F.
Do you guys think the bud will blast?

Don't worry, these babies will stay away from my Cattleya and Phal. (Will put in with the phal once phal and new paphs are disease free, for sure.)

Any tips are appreciated; I'm sure I'll be heading back on here with questions later.
Wish the bud good luck! .. And me

Very clean healthy looking plants!
Where did you get them from?

Ho Chi Minh looks sooo Lynleigh Koopowitz to me. lol
I want some happy healthy Ho Chi Minh as mine are struggling.

I hope that bud will open up nicely for you!

Hey thanks, these are my first paphs

If you're familiar with eBay:
Kawamoto Orchids... Seller:Kawamotoorchids
I love them! Such fast replies and they really stand behind their orchids. They also have superb 2 day shipping.

I got these by auction but they still have the buy it now of these two
They have some other paphs too I think, and last week they had a nice cynoches *sp* from the catasetum alliance..
Hopefully I said that right.

Looking good. I'll send some wishes for your bud.

I've not YET ordered from Kawamoto but I know they have a pretty good reputation.

Thank you!
Will paphs be okay if they get some water in between the top and middle leaf? I tried hard not getting water in the crown, but I did. Also I couldn't get it all out.

The water had a small amount of physan in it.

When you get water where you don't want it, just drip a bit of isopropyl alcohol into the spot and that will dry up the water. That is what I do.

Congratulations on your new orchids!

Very nice looking plants, both of them. When I get water in the crowns on my Paphs, I use some tissue to get rid of it. So far, so good.

Nice! When I get water in the crown/leaves I let the vacuum of moisture that is Colorado suck the moisture out. No joke, water that is in the crown is gone within 30 minutes!

Not to worry. The temp inside the box was probably warmer than the air temp unless it sat on the delivery truck for a long time. The bud looks well developed. It should be OK.
