Here are a couple of mounts that show roots hanging down in thin air and roots that have circled the mount a couple of times. Small mount and large orchids. Also a couple of pics of a mounted orchid that I've had for a long time. Cattleya Intermedia which has a virus. It is expressed in flowers that have color break. The plant grows quite well despite the virus and flowers prolifically every year. I think I've had this for over 15 years. There is no mount material left here. Just lots of roots both dead and alive. Somewhere on this board are pictures the last few years of this in bloom. There are now lots of sheaths with nascent flower buds inside which will flower in about three months. If you like pretty flowers on a plant that is about as easy to grow as you can hope for, any of the cattleya Intermedia's will thrill you. Reliable bloomers and prolific growers. very easy to grow too.
