Keiki has pattern on it like my petals have? Female
Default Keiki has pattern on it like my petals have?

Hello, all! I'm new here, and acquired my Phal orchid back in May of this year (2013). It bloomed happily until late July, and when the blooms fell off I cut the stem back to just above a node, with hopes of getting a new flower spike within a few months.

I was absolutely thrilled when in September/October I found new growth coming from my orchid's only flower stem! It was mitten shaped, so I assumed it was going to turn into buds. However, as time passed (about a month or so, into November) this growth began to open up and looked like leaves O.o

Now, I googled and realized my beautiful Phal was probably just having an aerial keiki and since it looked otherwise healthy (with gorgeous roots and no spots or anything on the leaves) that I should be excited about this new plant. However, on closer examination... My keiki's new leaves had spots on them, in patterns just like on my Phal's usual petals. The spots are identical in both color and size.

Has this happened to anybody else? Is it a true keiki?

Any insight, fellow enthusiasts?
