Yellow leaf, yellow on stalk of dendrobium? Female
Default Yellow leaf, yellow/dark green on stalk of dendrobium?

Evening, guys!

I just picked up a dendrobium this week and have since moved it over to a light setup with the rest of my guys. The bottom most leaf on the tallest stalk is turning yellow, and it looks like there is something weird going on under the top leaf of the tallest stalk. It looks darker and...weird.

On one of the lower stalks there is a little nub in between the leaves and it was green...now it's yellow. In addition, it looks almost like part of that stalk has shriveled inside of the other and is leaving a gap between the two? It's hard to describe, I hope the picture shows what I mean. The bottom leaf on that stalk also looks like it's beginning to yellow. =\

I know the 'chid is overpotted and I am waiting for it to drop its blooms until I move it to a new media/pot. The boom stalk is starting to turn brown from the top down and dry out, and the flowers are wilting, I guess maybe it's sulking from being in a new environment? I have not watered it because it is potted in moss..so..any idea if this is normal or if something else is going on?

Help! Thanks!

So I went ahead and pulled it out of the moss, thank goodness I did, it was very tightly packed. Thankfully, most of its roots look good (to me) and there are no signs of rot. I am not sure if they are supposed to look this way? For such a tall plant, I would have thought it would have more roots, but maybe I'm just used to phals and their big fat roots. I am currently soaking it in some seaweed and then will be potting in chc/bark/perlite/charcoal mix. I also went ahead and cut its spike and dabbed some cinnamon where I cut it to discourage icky things.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

I don’t think will survive but you can have a lot of keikis. Now it’s in a kind of shock mixed with end of flowering “short relax period”, the roots are in bad condition. What you can do is; cut the roots, take a clay pot (2-3)" and feel with few rocks or charcoal and put the canes between rocks just to stabilize per vertical. Keep the plant in (50-70) % humidity and air flow and wait for keikis.

You can mist from time to time with KLN or Supertrive..

You did good, you trusted your instincts and managed to care for this plant. It was not watered when it was in the store so you had minor dehydration issues and one leaf was sacrificed to get some of its stored food to sustain the plant; but all that is going to be fine now that you're in charge....you have a Denphal....with a biggibum parent by looking at the color and shape of your flowers....when the flowers are gone, you stop fertilizer and instead of watering every 3 days just water it weekly.... when you see keikis coming out ....then resume regular water and fertilizer....

The green color from the roots looks like algae, this means the plant was repotted not to long time before.

Man, is not in bad shape, you can recovery, but in time.
For recovery are a lot of methods don't worry, lets talking all together...
In the canes is food for (3-4) keikis, for next year you can have flowers again.
Just I told you my method...
