Question What is the one thing.....you can't do without?

what one item in your arsenal could you not live without, excluding water and air?
I'd love to see what we all use to keep our babies happy...

Mine would be my pump sprayer. With arthritis and carpal tunnel, I would never be able to use a regular sprayer, and I don't have a misting system.

I can't believe there's not one other person here who has something they wouldn't want to give up for growing their orchids!

A measuring spoon and a gallon jug are right up there, followed quickly by my min/max thermometer/hygrometer.

Cheryl & Heather:
why do you feel so strongly about clear pots?
I've never grown any of mine in them and I'm curious now

Scott:
I also agree with the gallon jug

I am starting to agree with the clear pots idea more and more too...

if you're doing s/h culture, they're indispensible because you need to be able to see how full the reservoir is. you could use a dipstick or something, but that's a pain.

for "normal" culture they let you see the status of your roots and media without having to unpot, which is very nice. I wouldn't have had this little surprise if it were in a clear pot:

EWWW!!! rotting media! luckily the roots were ok...

I'd love to see the reasons other people like clear pots too...I'm sure I missed something!

Very interesting...I'm anxious to see some other responses too. I'm now wondering what I'm going to do with the 58 clay pots and saucers I have now, if I decide to switch!
