Default My phal's leaves has some damage, Please help me save my phal.

Hello everyone. . . Please help me save my phal. I really love it.
I am a complete newbie to phal orchid growing; I grow few oncidums and dendrobiums successfully thought. I acquired a phal 2 weeks ago. It came in a plastic pot with drainage holes at bottom and with full coconut husk pieces medium. I kept it in my indoor garden which receives 4 hours of indirect light and rain water. (My other orchids are in same place and they are fine.) I didn’t water it since I got it because it was well watered at the store and it didn’t dry out. After I read this forum posts I repotted it with perlite and wood charcoal mix potting medium three days ago. I made additional holes at sides of the pot also. When I removed it from original medium (which were wet) there were four rotted roots and I cut them off with a sterilized blade. All roots which were inside of the pot were very pale beige and firm. There were little damages on two lower leaves. It is like some pest has ate parts of the leave. all leaves are firm and seems healthy. I searched for any type of pests in roots and leaves i didn't find any. Since I noticed little more damage on leaves over four days in indoor garden I moved it to an east facing window with my African violets. I have attached pictures of the leaves. Please help me cure it. As additional info - I live in a tropical island called Sri Lanka in south Asia. Therefore temperatures are at 25c to 35c year-round and get enough rain year-round so there is high humidity. I don’t have any equipment to measure humidity at my home. Indoor garden has a water feature so humidity is high.
Phals are very difficult to find in my country dands and oncidiums are the commonly growing types. I have attached a picture of flowers of the phal in case any of you want to identify it. I don't know about it's specific name only know it is a phal.

Sounds fine to me... The only leaf damage I see is mechanical, doesn't look like any bug, or fungus infection has happened. It could be grasshoppers, or snail/slugs... (But snail/slug would leave a trail) have they progressively gotten worse?

Are the photos from before you repotted, or after? If that's the new media, it doesn't look so good... But, maybe that's just my computer screen..? It looks as if it's got white mold on top of the media... If that's the case, I'd suggest finding a newer, cleaner medium. Since you live where it's hot & humid, you could put it in a wooden basket, with some chunky media for support, that way, the roots get more air... You would have to water more often, but the same rule applies: water when the roots are silvery in color, and when they're green, that means they have enough water, so do not water them yet. Spag moss works nicely in wooden baskets as well, I have a few Phals "potted" like this, and they love it....

Oh, and the roots that were pale, that's fine, they just haven't been exposed to sunlight to perform photosynthesis, which is fine, they don't necessarily need to get sunlight. As long as the roots feel firm, that's all that matters.

Other than that, you sound like you have done everything quite nicely... Your culture may need tweaking over time, as everyone's environment is distinctly different from one another's, but sounds like you are on your way. You say you're good at growing Oncids & Dendros, so you will come to understand Phals as well.

In your climate, Phals will do very well mounted.

Thank you very much for all replies.
Hello Island Girl, I didn’t find snail/slug trail around the plant. It has not progressively gotten worse after I moved it to east facing window. I regularly check on it. Photos are taken after repotting. My phone camera is also not so clear. Some parts of the perlite particles are white. I think that is what seen as white mold. This is the media I use for all my other orchids. I am little afraid to use wooden baskets since one of my neighbors has termite problems with wooden items in her garden.
Hello AnonYMouse, right now it is in full bloom. Two gorgeous flower spikes so I love to keep it inside the house until blooming is done. All other orchids I have are mounted since they love it.
