Scaphyglottis Prolifera again - any tips?

Ok everyone
I know, and sorry for it, I did ask this question already when I joined this forum, but at that time there were not so may reply's and tips. I have this bugger for over 2 years, received it as a small plant, which grew into pretty impressive size. However, I did try everything and anything in last 2+years - had it on the shade wall with my phalps, moved it to much more sun - close to cattelyas, now filtered sun, watered daily, than tried every second day, little winter rest, no winter rest, fertilizing weakly weekly, not fertilizing at all, you name it, I did it! It is growing like crazy, BUT no blooming. I would really appreciate ANY tips, suggestions, what to do to make it bloom finally, I mean, it looks nice even like this, but let's be honest, we all want to see them bloom at some point, right?

I used to have a mounted one and I grew it in Catt light, watered daily, fertilized weakly almost every time it got watered.

It was a very robust plant but I eventually donated it to a fund raiser because I needed the space.

If you read Brooke's culture, it has consistency and it is constant. You keep on changing locations and changing culture, small wonder it is sulking.
Catt light, daily water and weekly weakly fertilizer and let it stay put in its location.
Also, wait til it is cooler....this flower in Fall and early winter.

i was waiting for someone to tell me about this location switching:-) To clear it, I am not changing it really constantly, I did place it when purchased as small plant on Phal wall, it was there for over 8 months, or maybe even more, growing great but doing much of nothing regarding flowering, it was also darker nice green color, so I did figure out that it probably needs more light, and moved it to my cattleya light, where it was pretty much for the whole year or even more, again, not blooming, but getting bigger, leaves are more light so I know it gets enough light now - or at least I think - I juts recently moved it to the new location, because of the reorganizing, it has better than Phal light during the day and some good light in the afternoon with some direct sun around 7ish till sunset. I do water nearly every day and do fertilize weakly weekly, so will keep it up and hope:-)

post pictures of its blooms....when a plant stops sulking they usually give you a magnificent display....

I will. Someone in the Florida Orchid Growers group on FB wrote megathrive, which I do not use, I do use either dyna grow, with seaweed, and also 15-5-15 recommended by kawamoto. For cats also MegaCal. You think I should go for megathrive for this guy?

The main reason I don't like MegaThrive is because it has enzyme like chemicals in it and some hormone inducing properties in it. I went in their site and found out what the hoopla was about when I first heard about it.

Yes Tommy it bloomed every year.

It is 3-0-3 and contains 3% nitrogen, 3% Potash, .32% boron, .10% molybdenum.

It is a foliar spray and I used it only on my mounts in one area. You need 6T per gallon and if you check his website it is very expensive to use. I followed directions to use it every two weeks and saw no benefit from it nor did I see any problems. Since I use approximately 3 gallons of fertilizer solution for the one area, it would have been very expensive for me because I would still need my regular fertilizer.

I was blooming the Scaphy before I used the Mega Thrive.

Are you SURE it hasn't bloomed for you? I'm not trying to be a smart-ass...it's just that the flowers are so small they could easily be missed if one doesn't look hard.

It's an easy plant to grow and bloom so being in FL I would think you would easily bloom this one.

Like Brooke's mine is mounted...I water it every day in the Summer and it gets watered when I water the other mounts during the Winter. It's on cork...w/a little bit of sheet moss tucked around the edges of the plant's roots when I first mounted and then up-mounted it. I have it in very bright light (even some afternoon full sun) during the Summer and in the Winter it sits in an East facing window. Not fussy at all.

Mine usually blooms late Winter/early Spring...keep an eye on it around that time...you might see those flowers.

These pics are more than two years old so my plant is much bigger now (it nearly doubles in size each year) but it'll give you an idea of how small the flowers are. They are easily missed...you have to look very closely to see the itty bitty flowers here...
