New Phal after Recent Loss Female
Default New Phal after Recent Loss

Recently, I lost the only Phal I had in my home. It slowly and steadily declined until it was beyond hope. It all started with high humidity, stagnant air, root rot, edema, etc. I tried to treat it with Physan 20, but only managed to make things worse.

I was bummed, but wanted to get a new orchid before the season is over. Already they are becoming harder to find. Long story short, I got a new white Phal with 3 flowering spikes:

Her flowers are delicate and very subtly pretty:

and a nice number of healthy leaves:

and best of all she had a nice established air root and although some of the roots at the very top of the pot were entirely dried out, the roots inside the pot were in good shape. Once I trimmed all the bad stuff away, there were still a really good number of roots that just needed to be out of the Sphag asap.
