Unhappy I think I just made a big mistake

Its been cold in the house about 62F so I put a heater in the room I grow my orchids in and took the heat up to about 70 75F in the day and it is around 62F at night. I thought I would be helping my plants until I was looking at my paph venustum and noticed that the flower was drying up like it was coming out of bloom, is the flower drying up because I turn the heat on and off so much that it messed it all up

Turning up the heat probably made the humidity plummet. 62 is not too cold for most orchids.

Of course the Paph may just be done flowering.

I agree, the temperatures sound fine but the higher temperatures may have caused the plants to dry out more quickly. Paphs definitely don't like to dry out for very long.

When did the paph bloom and what did you mean that it looked like it was moving out of bloom? Have you noticed an aging of the flowers surface texture, or are you seeing the edges dry up? Please describe what you are seeing a little more. Is this plant close to the heat source - if so, it is getting warmer than the overall
70-75 degrees of the rest of the room -
Any sudden temp change can cause several varieties to react rather drastically, but usually does no long term harm; however even such a seemingly small temp change can make blooms blast before or after they are bloomed out. You only made an 8 degree change, so from your description, I think you just sped up the aging of a flower. The higher temp will dry out things more readily, and the humidity will definitely change; you have plenty of time to alter the H2O levels before there is too much damage to the plants unless you have some very touchy varieties.

Keep us updated.
Steve
