Vanda-what sp. are they?

Help-very new to orchids-I have 2 Phals, have seen some other very nice looking specimens, specifically Vasco. Viboon Velvet 'Perfection'. I believe this is a "Vanda", but can't seem to figure out what genus they are in.

Are these difficult to care for?

Its an intergeneric hybrid between Ascocentrum, vanda, and Rhynchostylis, or "Vascostylis".

These plants need lots of care, treat them like a kid. They do best if mounted or hung in a basket with their roots exposed. They require daily mistings, bright light, and good humidity if possible. If you cant provide the humidity then misting 2-3 times a day would work fine. Grow warm.

No need to be shy about being new to orchids. Everyone started sometime. Even us older growers(30+ years with orchids) learn something new from time to time. If you what to start with a Vanda the Vasco. Viboon Velvet would be one of the easier ones to start with. It is also a frequent bloomer as well. While they are happiest in a warm high humidity environment they will do just fine in vase culture as well. Here is a like to a very good thread here about vase culture.

Over the years I have tried growing Vandas using other methods. Once I tested vase culture for myself my plants are thriving. While they do require daily soaking they are worth it.
