Dendrobium - Watering and Sunlight issues
Default Dendrobium - Watering and Sunlight issues

I got a small Dendrobium Stratiotes plant from Orchids Show here in Darwin (Australia) last week. The plant has just 5 leaves. I am already having troubles with it as the bottom leaf has turned yellow. I am very new to growing Orchids and any advice and suggestions would be great!

The lady selling me told me to repot after 3 months. And for watering I was asked to either water it once a week or spray water mist everyday. Here is what I do...

1) Water it alternate days for 5 seconds
2) Plant has got good drainage system. Pebbles only.
3) Plant receives direct bright sunlight for 5 hours
4) Temperature in Darwin is about 30 deg C
5) Humidity is about 47%

Should I shift the plant indoors? Are the watering and sunlight conditions right? I want to save this plant before its too late :-(

The media look s okay. I would water it every 3 days in that media. If it's really hot then every other day. If it's inside every 4-5 days. Take it out of direct sunlight otherwise you might burn it to death. I'd rather grow them in not enough light than too much light. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else will have an opinion to share.
