I am a firm believer in S/H culture for paphs. Constant moisture and nutrition but still LOTS of air flow.
Yeah I'm still working on that Ray. I think most people for now have their Paphs, Phal's and such in bark and/or spagnum until the S/H concept really takes off. I have tried a few more of mine to see how things go...maybe this is just what I need to perk up my plants? The only problem is finding the proper pots. I think I will need to order those from you REALLY soon!

I have two paphs in just hydroton in translucent pots with the bottom domes and drainage and the side slits but they are sitting on/in moist hydroton not in water.

So far so good.

I also have a paph in the same type of pot in hydroton and perlite and that is sitting in a dish of water and it is growing very well.

As to soil in orchid mix? I don't like it I've actually seived bark before to get rid of the fine particulates and I don't use the premixed cymbidium mix available here because it is just full of dirt.

I've been using 4-1-1 ratio of coco husk, perlite and charcoal when I'm repotting. All my orchids really seem to do well in that medium. The coco doesn't seem to break down as quickly as fir bark, so I only have to repot when they outgrow the pot. I've never had good luck with moss. I always ended up with root rot.
