Night light beside orchids - bad for them?

Hi guys,

I'm growing chids (phals and mini-catts) in a window box, and there's a yellow lamp outside in the corridor that is just 1 foot from the top of the window box. It's not THAT bright, but I was just wondering if this would affect the day/night cycle of my chids. Is it necessary for my chids to grow in absolute darkness at night?

It doesn't matter. It's not bright enough to induce photosynthesis. I have a porch light on when it gets dark, and there's nothing wrong with my plants because of it.
