Mold in orchid pot
Unhappy Mold in orchid pot

I am absolutely positive that I'm not over watering it because it is completely healthy. I love in a very dry area, and I always let the soil and bark dry before watering again. Can some one please tell me what I'm doing wrong about how to prevent all of this mold growth? Thanks so much!

If you see what appears to be black mold, it's quite possible it's algae, especially in clear pots.

What does it look like? How old is your growing media?

Default White mold

It's white. I'm not sure how old it is. My mom bought it for me from Smith's Grocery Store.

You mentioned soil and bark? Is there a lot of fine soil like material in the pot? what type of orchid is it?

I have had snow mold on the media for one of my Phrags. Increase your air movement (fan), new medium, and clean your pot really well.

Your potting medium is probably old and needs to be replaced.
