DC ------ thanks for asking. It was a good question actually. The people that produced those two - having those particular features ----- they ended up deciding to not clone them.

They can definitely create divisions. But I'm pretty sure they won't sell them (or the divisions). It's possible that they could possibly share the plant or hand them over to very close friends or relatives, or pass them to people later on (who might ----- for some reason ----- 'share' it around - in the future that is).

Then they would indeed be rare! I know that Sunset Valley Orchids cloned Fdk. After Dark 'Black Pearl' and 'SVO'... I guess that Fred Clarke decided that was enough. (Over time, prices for both dropped, market probably saturated) He really isn't big on cloning, rather boring for a creative hybridizer to churn out the same old thing. He'd rather put the effort and greenhouse space into new creations.

I'm not familiar with the Catt... found Rth. (Potinara) Rosella Supreme, I expect that the owner of Rosella Orchids feels the same way.

Totally agree with you Roberta!!!!! That one is special to the owner (the breeder).

And with the SVO Black Diamond ----- the situation there is linked to marketing (maybe). There's something about this orchid that's linked to a brand of perfume. So some kind of marketing agreement maybe.
