flower spike or leaf growth? Bulb. echinolabium Male
Default flower spike or leaf growth? Bulb. echinolabium

I am pretty sure that these two growths are just new leaf growth but this was the first time it has done anything for me. Only had it about 3 months. Species is Bulbophyllum echinolabium. New growth or Flower spike?!

Also there are two on the whole plant which has about 6-7 mature bulbs.

Thanks!

Ben

Ben - They are definitely new growths which form only on the lead growths.

Thanks Bud and everyone! I sorta figured it was a new growth and just wanted to make sure because ive always read that the "mitten" look means its a spike and this looked just like a little mitten to me hahaha. I think thats more of a phalaenopsis thing now? I'll continue my care and i'm very happy even with a nice new little growth .

Ben

And P.S.: LouieP, That is definitely a new little root good growing, your plant looks very healthy, It'll spike in no time!

Ben, has this plant bloomed for you yet? Mine is one it's 8th or 9th flower. It got affectionately named Big Stink after the first one.
