I have a Laelio Cat (Emperor Wade) which has not flowered yet.

About 1 month ago it started 3 new growths. I was spraying daily since I did not want the low humidity dry ou the growth.

Suddenly 1 of the growths turned brown and then black. The other 2 seem to have stopped their growth although have not turned black.

Was it the watering? Can anybody please help?

Just a guess but before I got a bigger fan (better air movement), I too had a similar problem. I live at the beach (50-75% humidity and cool temps) and watered too much. New leads would emerge and then some would turn black (rot). The leaves would get black spots on them which would grow until it fell off. I stopped watering so much, and also went to DI and RO water. Even though I water using the dip method, since curtailing the watering, using very small amounts of fertilizer and putting more holes in the plastic pots I use, my issues with rot have virtually disappeared. Even the badly deteriorated plants have recovered (new growth only).

Water sitting in the new growth, especially in cool temps, can cause that. Spraying probably isn't necessary, just water the media when it is dry
