Thank you!
Cym Ladye, I checked out the images of both species, they look nice and compact. Fragrance is a bonus too. I think I am going to look for either or both to start with.
Thanks again.

Question about cymbidiums Male
Default

Cymbidium goeringii loves warmth in the summer. In the summer, they need the heat and humidity to grow well. In Toronto, summer can go up to the high 20s and low 30s (in Celsius).

The flower buds are induced and set in the middle of the summer, nothing to do with the cool fall temp (I don't know where people get this information from, but it is wrong)

Once the buds are set, they will poke out from the surface of the pot about 3-5cm. The buds will go into dormancy until after Winter Solstice. After Winter Solstice, the temperature in the growing room is basically just above freezing (0C/32F) for an extended period of time. This growing room, the humidity is 50-70% always. You should be able to see the flower buds to extend by mid Jan and will bloom from mid Feb through April depending which varieties you have.

My Japanese Cymbidium goeringii told me that if you grow Cymbidium goeringii like any Western orchids including standard, miniature Cymbidiums you see for sale, you will kill them 100% of the time.
