Congratulations! Looks like the relationship has blossomed - welcome to the world of addiction and devotion -this hobby will keep you money poor, plant rich, and totally absorbed! Please keep us posted. Winter is setting in here, and growing season has started where you are. Besides: that is a nice variety you have there.

A warning :In 1985 I went out to get wifey a plant for mothers day.....instead of useless cut flowers. In 1987 I came Here to a show with Bob Fuchs. In 1992 my collection was almost 6,000 pieces.

Aug 23 of 1992 reduced my collection to about a dozen.
In 1993 I bought my first farm here.No more Hurricanes for my plants !
By 2004 I was back up to about 2500, mostly species.
By that time I had the whole addiction. Flowering trees, bromeliads, ferns, palms, heliconias, begonias, tropical fruit.

When I saw people paying four times for a house than it's actually worth, I jumped.I sold EVERYTHING ( thanks ebay) and took off with my Ambull, a shotgun,a backpack full of hi-tech tropical gear, and 200 lbs of books.

I bought a bigger farm and started building.
About $1 million later and I'm still hunting.
This all started with one little Vanda Coerulea, from Fred Fuchs.

You've been warned !

Talking

Thanks for all the comments....... All i can say is that Yea, the bug has bit and it just aint letting go......but i really don't mind at all.........i enjoy every Rand spent on each chid..........

@ Arenalbotanicalgarden = Thanks for the heads - up and warning.....lol. it really all started with my partner suggesting keeping chids as a hobby, as i really did not have any, and had no interest in anything...... and here we are 5 years down the line, as you say money poor but plant rich............

orchids, bromeliads, cycas, and aloe's...... and of course the Clivias........ me and the partner are pretty busy all the time with the plants......

i'll keep you all posted on the plants as the flowers arrive.......
