Orchid blooming season?
Default Orchid blooming season?

Is the blooming season for any given orchid plant predictable? I would hate to find all my orchids blooming in the same month, for instance.

Where can I find this information?

some bloom on a schedule, and others are 'free flowering' and will bloom throughout the year
there is a schedule floating around here somewhere - I just can't find it

each orchid blooms in its own season....the best way to have them all year round is to buy something blooming at the needed time and so advance your collection.....yeah!!

growers will sometimes force plants to bloom out of season in order to sell them, so buying a plant in bloom does not guarantee that it will normally bloom that time of year.

Orchid blooming season? Male

As others have stated, some have set patterns or seasons when they bloom while others bloom freely throughout the year.

If you are in question about your specific orchid(s) and it/they are species or you know what species they were bred from, then I would suggest you go to the Baker's website OrchidCulture.com and pull the data sheets for each one to see what their tables say. They have a wealth of information on each plant in terms of light needed, growth, conditions to grow in, environment of it's native habitat, etc...
